What is a Bluff and How to do it Right
What is a bluff? A bluff is when you bet or raise a bet to try and force out the other players when you really do not have a good hand.
Why do people do this? Well, for money of course! If you are not getting good cards sometimes people bluff just to win a hand. Bluffing can be risky. If another player calls you on your bluff you could lose a lot of money. That is why you have to be careful when to bluff and not to do it too often. Once people get to know how you play bluffing is even more dangerous. Being a person that bluffs too much is going to get you labeled as a bully.
Once you are labeled; your bluffing will not work as often for you. Now when you are bluffing it is important not to be obvious. Do not signal in any way! Do not shift in your seat, do not look away, do not say anything unusual, do not make unusual facial expressions or everyone will know. A lot of people when they bluff, especially at the beginning, have some kind of tell.
The more experienced you are the better you will get. Many players wear sunglasses so that you cannot see their eyes. This is a good idea, you can tell a lot about a person by their eyes. When you are trying to bluff it is best to act completely normal.
